Immigration form I – 485

I – 485 is is used by a person who is in the United States to apply for US citizenship. Also to adjust to permanent resident status or register for permanent residence.

Persons who are not eligible to adjust their status.
If you entered the United States as a immigrant crew member.
If you were not admitted following inspection by an immigration officer.
Your authorized visit expired before you filed this application.
You were employed in the United States without authorization prior to filing this application.

You must file your application with the following evidence.
Birth certificate.
Passport with an immigrant visa.
Photos.
Fingerprints.
Police clearance.
Medical exam.
