Insulated Concrete Forms

I always prefer concrete houses for they are made to last longer and safer in a storm especially during hurricane season. The exterior walls of a concrete home are more durable than the engineered wood frame home construction. Our home is made of concrete and it does have a superior sound proofing in fact, I can't tell if it is raining outside unless if I look out thru the window. Not only that, concrete homes are fireproof and moisture resistant.

Termites are a hassle to homeowners and it can drain the bank. Concrete homes have better protection from termite invasion. Some experience builders prefer wood frame homes for they are energy efficient since they have deep wall cavities for any kind of insulation. With the ICF Building Systems, concrete homes deliver high performance structures as well as energy efficient green building and it's all because of Durisol ICF. ICF is cement bonded wood fiber and it is environmentally energy efficient because it is 100% recycled, safer and structurally secure.

For all those reasons, I rest my home preference. If you are curious about Durisol then, you should visit the Website to see the homes and buildings which are made of Insulated Concrete Forms. I tell you right now that they all look gorgeous. Check it out yourself.

Yardwork

Before moving to Florida, we lived in a three bedroom two baths home in another state that had a large yard with many trees. We are now living in a two bedroom two full baths condo with no yard at all. I have to admit that I do at times miss doing the yard work.

Here, the landscaping is included in our home owner's fee. I remember that we have a lot of trees on our previous property and when the leaves began to fall, it was quite a job to pick them up. My father had a riding lawn mowing machine with a leaf catcher attached to the rear. He would crisscross the yard on the lawnmower picking them up and dumping them in one large pile to be bag. Cutting the grass and picking up the leaves on the riding lawnmower was fun and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a very efficient way to clean the yard. A riding lawnmower is expensive but if you have a large yard it is well worth the money.

A Marble Fireplace

Imagine this: a home with a marble fireplace …

It’s every woman’s dream to have a home with very beautiful furniture and fixtures. Think about a kitchen with elegant counter tops and tables made of marble. Visualize having a marble fireplace in the living room. That tops everything else!

Why would a woman want a marble fireplace in her home? This may sound a little sentimental, but a fireplace represents warmth, and for many families, gathering together in front of the fireplace during cold evenings and sharing stories can be life’s greatest moments worth remembering.

Here’s a list of some questions interested people may ask about marble furniture and fixture such as when considering making a marble fireplace:

Will it cost much? The answer is yes and no. Yes, it will be a little expensive if the choice of marble is of high quality. On the other hand, it can also be a “no” because there are less-expensive types of marbles that can also be used.

Are there many colors to choose from? Yes, there are at least 18 colors to choose from. Examples of marbles in light colors include Carrara White, Crema Marfil, Calacata Belgia, and Botticino Friorito.

Will it be worth it? Of course! A marble fireplace is an amazing addition to a beautiful and loving home – the warmth it brings makes the home feel affectionate and makes it more comfortable – a place worth coming home to at the end of the day.

The Advantage of Using a Real Estate Agent

You are in the market for a new home and ask yourself do I really need a real estate agent? What is the advantage to having a real estate agent?

In the last year we have purchased two condos in Florida and yes you do need a good reputable real estate agent. There are certain advantages to having one. First of all there is no reason to not have a real estate agent as the seller pays their commission anyway. It generally works like this the listing agent will receive half of the commission and the remaining portion will go to the buyers agent so you see you really do not have anything to lose here.

A real estate agent can help you determine how much you can afford to pay for a home. They can also help you prequalify for the loan and recommend which lenders to use.

A real estate agent has access to the homes listed in your area. Probably a variety and many more listings than would be available to you.

A real estate agent can take you to the homes you are interested in and give you a guided tour through them. This way you can note the likes and dislikes of each home. They also have information available to the on the history of the home you would be interested in such as how long it has been on the market, school district and type of neighborhood the home is located in. This type of information will help you make a better decision on to buy or not to buy in particular area.

A real estate agent can also run what is called a comparison as to the prices of the homes in the area what they are selling for therefore better advising you what to bid on the home. They can also help you negotiate with the seller's not only the price but what assessor would go with the home such as a stove, refrigerator or patio furniture etc. They will also submit your bid to the seller.

So you see there are definite advantage to having a real estate agent when looking for a home to help you walk through the process with the least amount of stress possible. So in your search for a new home it would be to your benefit to have a reputable real estate agent to guide you through the pitfalls of purchasing a home.
