Two Weeks After Hurricane Sandy

Florida is just lucky that Hurricane Sandy passes away from our state. Despite all that, our shoreline experienced the harsh blow of giant waves ... up to 12 ft high. We went to Mai Tiki Bar located at the end part (800 ft) of Cocoa Beach Pier just to witness the big waves as reported in the local news channel. We went all the way at the back of Mai Tiki Bar and as the waves slammed the pillars beneath the Pier, I could feel the place we stood at shaking. We stayed for 20 minutes and we were about more than 15 at the bar. It was raining when we left Mai Tai. Storm Sandy was nowhere near us. It was indeed a monstrous storm.

We live 5 minutes away from Indian River and about 25 minutes away from the shoreline of Atlantic. If there is a storm like Sandy in the future, we will evacuate for sure. It's been 2 weeks since Sandy hit Staten Island New York and up to today, thousands still in the dark and no power. I pray that God will give them strength to hurdle this unfortunate event. I also hope that the local officials and the government will speed up the HELP that these people need.

Family Insurance

For the last four years, we have a serious economic problem. Business close down, people got laid off from work, job is scarce to find and so many families lost their properties to short sales and foreclosures. There are priorities in life that family continues to keep such as Family Insurance and health insurance. Any insurance is worth keeping for because if we do not have it, we might be in trouble in the future. If any members of the family will get sick, that could be very expensive.

Hurricane

Hurricane Irene is bearing down on the coast of North Carolina. While watching the news this morning they reported that over half of the population of the barrier islands that will be struck by this large hurricane are not going to evacuate! I can tell you this could be a fatal mistake.

The mayor of New York City at a press conference has urged the citizens to evacuate from the low-lying areas of the city. Many of the residence have ignored his warnings this could be something if they live they might regret. These people do not realize the power of and Atlantic hurricane.

On August 17, 1969 hurricane Camille hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Many people also ignored the warnings to evacuate they paid with their lives. 131 people paid with their lives, 27 are still missing, 8900 were injured and 13,000 homes were destroyed 68 square miles were leveled So what part of evacuate now they don't understand.

So I would suggest when you're local officials warned you a hurricane is bearing down on you and it is time to evacuate do it. I know you don't want to end up on some Memorial wall of the dead after the storm.
