Debt Collectors Harassing Phone Calls

If you have ever been called by a debt collector on the phone you know, they are the most rude and arrogant people on the planet.

Recently, it has been reported that there is a scam going on where a debt collector will call you on the phone and threaten you with all types of legal action if you do not send them money. Number one, you never give any payment over the phone to a debt collector as they will clean out your bank account. If they threatened you to jail time, this is not true as there is no one put in prison in the United States just because of debt.

When you encounter one of these people on the phone simply tell them to send you a letter outlining your debt. Never give them your bank account number or Social Security number over the phone.

Another trick you can use when they say you are being recorded tell them just a minute while you turn your recorder on also and many times they will hang up immediately.

Bill collectors can call you between the hours of eight o'clock in the morning to five o'clock in the evening Monday through Saturday. They may not call you at your place of work if you request them not to. If you feel you being unduly harassed, there are state agencies you can report the abuse. When you owe money, you pay it but, they can't threatened you because you are unable to pay at certain time. YOU HAVE RIGHTS you know.

Learning my Way Around Baking Cupcakes

Guest post written by Kathleen Grimm:

I think there's only so long until you either decide to do what you're watching on reality TV or you are completely disgusted with yourself and stop watching. That's at least been my reality with watching reality TV. Luckily, the stuff I've tried has really just been redecorating or baking. Pretty tame stuff. I love cake shows and I've been baking a whole lot more since I started getting into them. I'm sure lots of other people have felt the same way too.

I'm always on the lookout for the next great cupcake variation for me to try on my own. They're just so much fun! WHen I was looking up some cupcake recipes I found the website http://www.debtsettlementfamily.com/debt-consolidation and after I looked through it a little bit I decided to use it to help out my debt situation.

I love the really crazy cupcakes recipes and am always willing to try some. I even made some Guinness cupcakes that were so delicious! And I never thought that I would make and like some beer cupcakes!

Abusive Debt Collectors

In these days of hard times many people have had to deal with abusive debt collectors. Many companies will turn their unpaid bills over to a third party debt collector. These companies can be very aggressive and abusive. They are working on commission and could care less about the situation you are in.

You will find when dealing with these companies they can be very abusive and use tactics that are actually illegal. There are federal and state laws to prevent this abuse. The federal government has passed the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to curb much of this abuse. Companies can be fined as much as $1000 for violating this law.

Some samples of aggressive and abusive tactics would be calling you after 9 PM in your home, harassing you at work when told to stop calling, threatening you and using profane language and misrepresenting the amount of money that is owed to them. If you are encountering any of the situation you do have rights as they are breaking the law. You may file complaints with the state and federal agencies. Or you might want to contact an attorney to file a lawsuit for the abuse and seek compensation. Remember you do have rights that cannot be trampled on by these aggressive and abusive companies.
