I was watching the Jay Leno Show and it's just so funny to realize that most of us does not know about this question: What does the Constitution do? It is funny but not in a good way though that is why, it became the platform of jokes in the show. We need to know that the Constitution sets up the government, defines the government and protects basic rights of the Americans.
The Constitution of the United States divides the government power between the national government and the state government. The name for this division of power is federalism which is an important idea in the Constitution. We call the Founding Fathers who wrote the Constitution as the Framers of the Constitution. The Framers wanted to limit the powers of the government, so they separated the powers into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The Constitution explains the power of each branch. The Constitution also includes changes and additions, called amendments. The first 10 amendments are called the Bill of Rights which is the individual's rights and liberties of all Americans.
