While watching the Republican debate last night question came up about illegal immigration and how to stop it. Many of the candidates said build a bigger and better fence I'm sure that this would help but there are some simpler solutions.
A few years ago almost anybody could get a drivers license in the state of Florida. This license would be valid for a few months for tourists or for many years for illegal aliens all you had to do was prove you had a Social Security card. Most of the cards were bogus and the DMV really had no way to check them at that time. Fake Social Security card used to go for about $60.
The days of obtaining a driver's license in the state of Florida without the proper identification is over. To apply for or renew your driver's license you must personally go to the DMV present a birth certificate, or American passport a Social Security card which now can be verified and at least two utility bills to prove your residence.
Putting these procedures in place has definitely cut the flow of illegal immigrants into the state of Florida. If more states had these requirements it would be a step forward to controlling illegal immigration.
